Curtain size calculator

Measure the window frame, and from the top of the frame to the floor.

Curtains look expensive when they are hung high and wide, full enough and the right length. This gets the numbers right before you order.

Height

Mount the rod about 4 to 6 inches above the window frame; going higher, toward the ceiling, makes the room feel taller.

Width

Extend the rod past the frame so open curtains stack off the glass, and buy panels that add up to 2 to 2.5 times the rod width (3 times for sheers).

Length

Standard ready-made lengths are 63, 84, 95 (or 96), 108 and 120 inches. Measure from the top of the rod: for a tailored look end about half an inch above the floor; add 6 to 8 inches to puddle.
