Dining Room Rug Size: The 24-Inch Rule (With a Chart)

Add 24 inches to every side of the table: that is the dining rug rule.

Chairs need room to slide back without catching the edge, so the rug should reach at least 24 inches past the table on every side.

Rectangle, 84 to 96 in (seats 8) 9 x 12 ft
