Norse mythology forms the basis of this mystery anime series based on Sakura Kinoshita`s hit manga MYTHICAL DETECTIVE LOKI RAGNAROK. With the help of his faithful manservant, Yamino, and a mystery-obsessed teenaged schoolgirl, Mayura, the pintsized Loki runs an earthly detective agency specializing in paranormal cases a la THE X-FILES--all the while searching for the meaning of his own exile and dodging the vengeful gods that Odin has dispatched to kill him. Rendered in a muted palette perfectly suited to its moody subject matter, the mystery anime unfolds at a leisurely but suspenseful pace that emphasizes atmosphere over action.
